  • The markets lost all the gains of morning trade and closed flat. FMCG, IT, auto and consumer durables were the biggest gainers in today's session while realty, power and metal tried to pull the indices down. The Sensex closed at 17691, up 34 points from its previous close, and the Nifty shut shop at 5366, up 3 points.

  • The top Nifty gainers today were Tata Motors, HUL, ITC and Infosys while the biggest losers included Jindal Steel, Tata Power, Reliance Infra and DLF.

  • The markets closed with moderate gains during the week and barring power and metal, all sectoral indices closed in the green. The Sensex was up 0.87% and Nifty gained 0.95% over the week. The CNX Midcap index closed with 0.6% gain, BSE Smallcap was up 1.2% while the Bank Nifty closed with 0.65% gain.

  • Key levels for Bank Nifty today is 10460 and for CNX IT it is 5912, says Ashwani Gujral, technical analyst, on ET Now.

  • The market is now in a stock-specific mood and Nifty could move to 5450-5470 in 3-4 days, says Shrikant Chouhan of Kotak Securities on Zee Business. Market has to sustain above 5420 for momentum to be positive, he adds.

  • The broader direction of the market is on the upside though there may be some consolidation, says Mitesh Thacker, technical analyst, on ET Now. Breakout would be either below 5310 or above 5400, he adds.
