  • The markets closed with moderate gains today with healthcare, capital goods and realty being the biggest gainers. Metal and oil & gas closed with significant losses. The Sensex closed at 17257, up 21 points from its previous close, and the Nifty shut shop at 5240, up 11 points.

  • The top Nifty gainers today were Cipla, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Ambuja Cements and JP Associates while the biggest losers included Coal India, ONGC, Sesa Goa and Hero MotoCorp.

  • If Nifty holds on to 5200 then it could move up to 5260-5280, says Prakash Gaba, technical analyst, on Zee Business. For Nifty to move up, Bank Nifty must trade above 10400, he adds.

  • Fresh buy readings can be seen on daily momentum, says Sarvendra Srivastav, technical analyst, on NDTV Profit. Key support for Nifty exists at 5150 with crucial gap resistance at 5267-5300, he adds.

  • There is stiff resistance for the Nifty at 5250-5270, says Ashwani Gujral, technical analyst, on ET Now. A key level for the Bank Nifty today would be 10363 above which it would stay positive, he says.
