NSE

  • The markets closed flat today with realty, metal and consumer durables being the biggest losers. Power and IT, too, lost significantly and FMCG was the only sector that managed to close in the green. The Sensex closed at 17214, down 19 points from its previous close, and the Nifty shut shop at 5227, down 8 points.

  • The top Nifty gainers today were Hero MotoCorp, TCS, HDFC Bank and ONGC while the biggest losers included Jindal Steel, Hindalco, Tata Power and SBI.

  • The markets closed with significant declines this week with all sectoral indices closing negative. The Sensex was down 1.6% and Nifty also lost 1.6% over the week. The CNX Midcap index closed with 1% loss, BSE Smallcap lost 1% while the Bank Nifty closed with 0.4% loss.

  • If the Nifty holds its support of 5180-5190 then it could bounce back to 5260-5270 where selling pressure will emerge, says Dharmesh Shah of ICICI Direct on Zee Business.

  • If the Nifty breaches its support of 5220 then it could go down to test 5150-5100, says Kunal Saraogi, technical analyst, on CNBC Awaaz.

  • The market is likely to stay rangebound and choppy but I don't see the Nifty closing below 5180, says Mitesh Thacker, technical analyst, on ET Now. Supply will come in at higher levels at around 5265-5300, he adds.
