  • The markets remained choppy throughout the day and closed with moderate gains. Banking, healthcare, capital goods and metal were the best performers while realty was the biggest laggard in today's session. The Sensex closed at 17637, up 53 points from its previous close, and the Nifty shut shop at 5359, up 20 points.

  • The top Nifty gainers today were Sun Pharma, IDFC, Jindal Steel and Ambuja Cements while the biggest losers included DLF, ONGC, Siemens and Hindalco.

  • Hold long positions in the Nifty with a medium-term target of 6050-6100 and stop loss of 5164, says Sarvendra Srivastav, independent market analyst, on NDTV Profit. Send to friends

  • The market is likely to remain in a broad range of 5300 and 5500 and this band will gradually narrow, says Ashwani Gujral, technical analyst, on ET Now. We need to remain above 5336 to stay positive with supports at 5300 and 5261 and resistances at 5375 and 5411, he adds.
